Finding a snowblower repair shop can be a task in itself. Depending on where you live there may not be a lot of choices available. You want to be able to find someone that you trust, as well as one you can afford. A lot of places will try to sway you to do certain things to your machine, replace your existing machine, or will refuse work because it is a certain style.
Check your local yellow pages to find snowblower repair shops. A lot of places which sell snowblowers offer repairs. But, they may only work on the blowers that they sell. Call around before you shop. There is nothing worse than arriving at a shop to be told that they refuse to work on your machine for whatever the reason may be.
When calling around to other places, make sure you are specific on what your needs are. Make sure you have the style and or model number available to give to them over the phone so they know what they are dealing with. Let them know the exact problem you are having, as well as any other information that may be of help to them.
If they cannot work on your snowblower, ask if they have any references available to give to you. They may not work on a certain brand of machines, but they may know somebody else that can help you. A good repair shop will know their competition and comparable shops that you may be able to get a hold of.
Do not let them pitch sales to you. If you have called them ahead of time and explained the problem to you, they should not try and sell you a new machine. Let them know that you are not in the market for a new snowblower, and that you are happy with the one you have. If all else fails, take your business elsewhere.
Before you arrive to have your snowblower fixed, be sure to ask them how long it will take and if they can order parts for your machine. Some repair shops will tell you they cannot get the part in hopes that you will just buy another machine instead of taking yours elsewhere. If they are unsure if they can get the parts, try another place.
There are a lot of snowblower repair shops that will try to sell you a replacement machine instead of fixing your existing one. Do not let them push you over. Know what kind of problem your snowblower is having, and let them know what you want done. This will avoid any problems you may have once you actually bring the machine in for repair.
