On every bit the drill is first put into 2nd gear and if it wont drill it then gets put into 1st gear. 32,25,22,20mm drill bit can only be drilled in 1st gear into oak. 18,16mm drill bit will easily drill in 2nd gear into oak. Obviously the drill will find it alot easier to drill into softwood. The drill it self is actually only 6 1/2 inch long which is very short for a drill with this much power.
