Border Collie Flashlight Obsession

I'm pretty sure this is not breed exact to Border Collies but boy, oh boy is it something. We discovered the Flash Light Obsession by accident one night and we've been dealing with it ever since. My neighbor had locked herself out of her house and asked me to come over and help her get in. It was dark so I grabbed a flashlight and went to help her. Upon returning to our place I walked in the door with the flashlight still on. The light shined on the wall and Ned the Border Collie went surely nuts!

I've talked with a few Border Collie owners and they have said their dogs also acknowledge to this as well be it flash lights or those laser pointer things. It seems that the base assumption is that this is yet someone else manifestation of the herding instinct. As our dog went crazy, and I do mean totally nuts, I had no idea what the problem was, not realizing that the darn flashlight was still on. So as I moved around the light flashed across the wall, over the couch and onto a Lazy-boy chair in the living room. Like a rocket Ned shot over to the couch and bounded onto the chair knocking it clean over backwards! By this point I had finally figured out what the issue was and fast turned the light off.

The strangest thing was that even after the light was turned off he still continued to look for the light for about 15 minutes! Very alert and excitedly running around the house looking at walls, checking the couch and examining the chair he had knocked over intensely. It was like his Shadow Chasing obsession from his puppy days but far worse. Now, Ned is ordinarily a pretty laid back dog, inspecting he is a Border Collie, when in the house. Not a lot of running, barking, whining or anyone along those lines. When that light hit the wall and flashed around the room he "snapped" into a totally dissimilar dog. His pupils dilated, his tail was up and he was at a dead run...not a trot or a inviting step but a wide open sprint. It was surprising, shocking and surely pretty funny as well.

Several months later the wife and I were out at night meeting and it was running very long. I stepped covering and called my father, who lives close by, to ask if he would not mind going down to walk the dog. About an hour later, as we were driving home, I get a call. It was dark covering by the time my father got down to walk Ned and he grabbed the flashlight to take with him on the walk. As he and Ned were walking down a dark road a car approached and, thinking safety, my father flicking on the flashlight so the car could surely see him.

Ned went crazy! He turned from a calm dog out for a walk into a manic chasing after the light on the ground. He bolted so fast that the leash popped out of my fathers hand and ran into the street after the light, right in front of the oncoming car! Luckily the car slowed down, Dad switched off the light and Ned came right back over to him. Moral of the story? Just be aware of this itsybitsy behavior possibility with your Border Collie. I never belief to mention it to my father and we approximately lost the darn dog because of it.

How to Make Flashing Led Circuit Board

A flashlight without batteries-sounds contradicting, doesn't it? After all, haven't batteries served mankind long enough as a proven and sufficient way of storing energy?

A flashlight is a handy puny gismo that helps us in dark situations or wherever electricity is not present. Thinking of the latter, a battery-which gets electricity from the same sources anyway then stores it-seems the more sensible solution.

Not too long ago, totally battery-flashlights, or the "shake" flashlights, invaded the market. The principle is simple-magnetic induction charges a capacitor, which in turn powers an sufficient and non-power hungry Led. In this system, the capacitor is what takes the battery's place. Vigor is induced by the passing of the magnet straight through a metal coil-which is why these flashlights need shaking.

In all honesty, I have had a few of these. Some were given as gifts, and yet others I naturally succumbed to the request for retrial of not having to buy a singular battery ever again. Do they work? Of policy they do. In fact, you can make them work while in the store's display. The question, however, is that can they entirely replace normal flashlights?

I hate to disappoint you on this but all of my shake flashlights are currently just collecting dust in some storage bin. It may be just me but after exploring the world of flashlights deeper, I came over admittedly excellent Led torches that contribute good quality light with easy rechargeable batteries. The shake flashlights are just too weak for my taste, and besides, the actual shaking can be a tedious process. If you naturally hate buying batteries, you can go with high-grade rechargeable ones. There is a shop for these which means the business is always improving on technology. And, if it has been a while since you bought some, you'd be surprised at how excellent these batteries have become, and how long they can now keep their charge.

If you still want to forego of using electricity, you can opt for the smaller, keychain-sized solar Led lights. Technically these still use batteries, but they rely totally on solar Vigor to charge them. In the end, you still have useful power that lasts steadier, longer.

Fun Games For Girl Scouts

Being the parent of a girl scout, or a girl scout yourself, you know what fun the Girls Scouts can be. Girl Scouts help build self-esteem, team work, and provide a lot of good to the community straight through fundraising and volunteering. At times, it's important for this breathtaking young ladies to have some fun and play a few games. Here are some ideas for fun games for girl scouts.

1. Night search relay - You will need one index card per girl in the group, some reflective tape, and 3 flashlights. This game should be done at night or in a very dark room. Divide the girls into 3 teams. (If there are a estimate of girls that isn't divisible by three, divide into groups of 2 or 4. Give each team a shape (circle, triangle, square). Cut reflecting tape into those shapes and place the cards in incommunicable spots where they can categorically be found (since the room is dark, it will still present a challenge). Have the girls in each team stand in line and hand the front girl for each time a flashlight. Upon the word "Go" they need to find a card with their team's shape on it (circle team finds a card with a circle of reflective tape on it) and then comes back to their team and hands the flashlight to the next player who does the same thing. The first team who finds all of their index cards wins!

2. The Toilet Paper Game - You will need 1 roll of toilet paper. Take turns passing colse to the roll of toilet paper, asking them to tear off as many sheets as they like. Once every person has their toilet paper, they must say one thing about themselves for ever square of toilet paper they took.

3. Do as I say, Not as I do - In this game, you will have the girls line up across from you. You tell them, do as I say, not as I do. Tell them a command (stick out your tongue, for example), while you do something thoroughly different), like putting your fingers in your ears. If a girl does what you do and not what you say, they have to sit down. Do this until only one is left standing!

Using Led Lights in Creative Photography

Flashlight photography is an emerging technique being pursued by photographers. Using a flashlight in photography allows a photographer a new avenue of imagination and creativity for the photographer. When used correctly, Led flashlights can mimic natural lights and generate effects not potential in photo imagining and manipulation software. Led lights allow the light source to be directly controlled by the photographer's vision. The following are some basic tool tips and techniques.

The Right Camera

The single-lens reflex camera, or Slr, uses a mirror to accurately reflect to the photographer the same scene that the camera does. The digital Slr, or D-Slr, has the same capabilities as the film Slr, but uses a memory card instead of film. Whether type of camera is great for flashlight photography because you can adjust the shutter to a long speed, which is perfect for Led light techniques.

Tips and Techniques

It is helpful to use a lot of Led lights to get a good ability picture. These lights tend to be on the small side, and don't give off a whole lot of light. But don't worry - Led's are fairly cheap and you can get dozens of them for just a dollar or so.

Led flashlights are astounding hard lighting sources, because the light is highly focused. A photographer can use the Led flashlights by placing one or more flat on the ground in order to light up the bottom of an object or some other specific focal object. If you need lighting going upward, stack the lights on top of each other in tripod fashion.

Another way to use Led flashlights is to use self-adhesive Velcro to make a hook strap that wraps around the lens of your camera. Allow two extra centimeters slack for attaching some loop Velcro. Join together the loop side to the hook side with the adhesive side facing outwards. Next, attach the lights to the adhesive side one at a time until you cover the entire strap, and voila! You now have your very own lighting source for pointing Led light directly at objects, and you hardly spent a dime.

Natural Photography and Led Lights

Combining Led's with other flashlights, natural light or camera lights can accomplish lively experimental effects. Try using a flashlight held in front of your camera flash with no direct sunlight. The combined lights can add a natural warmness to your photo, making your photo lively and unique. Other experiment is using distinct white balances straight through distinct colored gels or color filters in front of white Led lights. This technique can simulate any white balances of natural light. You can also use the lights to "paint" light over an image by using a slow shutter speed and sweeping the Led flashlight over the scene.

Using macro techniques, where the lens to field distance is much closer than usual, Led flashlights allow the photographer to mimic and/or heighten night shots. This formula can allow an aesthetic white equilibrium in spot lighting photography sessions

Daily, there are many, many things that try to entice away our attentions. Some of those things are good, and some of those things can take our eyes off of more leading things at hand, but every day, the media, our jobs, our friends, the phone, our computers, etc. All vie for our constant visual and mental devotion. Unfortunately for married persons, any of these things can also take our eyes off of the most leading man in our lives, and cause them to feel less significant to us. As a result, the news reports are dismal and dark with regard to the success of marriages, but with proper attention, we can keep the light on in our marriages, keeping them thoughprovoking and fulfilling, no matter the distractions colse to us.

There is a couples' rehearsal that I have both participated in, and led, in many marriage workshops. It's a pretty straightforward rehearsal in concept, but very difficult to carry out. This rehearsal illustrates the problem of our attentions in a very tangible way. Grab a timer and your partner and try this one. Set the timer for one minute, and then without any talking at all, look into your marriage partner's eyes for one minute. No talking! Keep your concentration focused on your spouse for the full minute, but don't comment, don't chat, and try not to giggle. It's not as easy as it might seem.

The infer for this is that we have much shorter concentration spans than we would like to admit, and focusing on someone else man is just not easy. We'd rather think about ourselves. However, keeping our attentions on our spouse is admittedly one of the most leading marriage tools that we can use to find joy and fulfillment. When we "spotlight" our spouse and their interests, we are giving them one of the most high-priced gifts we can give - our time. Time is one of the only things that we can never replenish, so when we give it to someone else man that says something of their importance to us. In a marriage, your spouse wants to, and should be, the most significant attention-getter in your life.

Conceptually, we can all agree with this, but practical application is not easy. We must be willing to seek their opinions first. That means before we consult our friends or other house members. We must be willing to seek our spouse's welfare first. That means before we seek the welfare of our children, or our coworkers. We must be focused on shining the light on their talents and not our own. We must be curious in their passions, their challenges, their hobbies, their needs, their wants, their "time," and in all of the things that make them tick.

A funny thing happens to the one who holds the flashlight, and that principle applies here, too. The light, shining on our spouse, will illuminate their strengths and show off the best of who they are. That is good for us to see, and good for us to do for them. But the holder of the flashlight, if you will, has the opening to direct the light. By focusing on the character of our spouse that we want to highlight and emphasize, and by giving them our time and attention, we reinforce those things that drew us to them in the first place, manufacture that "light" brighter and encouraging them to stay "in the light" while illuminating the path for others with the radiant light.
